An Intro by Ken Eliasberg

America In The Balance - Political commentary by Ken Eliasberg I thought that a couple of words on my purpose for creating this forum and the title I chose might be of some value—my story, if you will.

Perhaps all that is necessary by way of explanation is that it emanates from a column I did about 4 years ago in which I expressed my great concern for the well-being of our magnificent country. I felt then, and I feel more strongly today, that Western Civilization is in serious trouble, and the United States is the only hope for its survival. However, the U.S. is dealing with its own existential threat, made more serious by the deep divisions within our society—divisions so deep as to make our survival problematic.

And, for the sake of all those who follow, America must survive for it is truly that "shining city on the hill."

As is frequently my want, I love to introducea topic’s discussion by framing it with some humorous — but telling — emails that I have received from friends and colleagues. So, to set the stage for a discussion of Arizona’s recently […]
