ARABS PROVOKE A WAR IN THE MIDDLE EAST

ARABS PROVOKE A WAR IN THE MIDDLE EAST,

AND THE U.N. BLAMES ISRAEL: WHAT’S

WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE? THE U.N.

by

Ken Eliasberg

Hostilities have once again broken out in the Middle East. Why? For any number of reasons, not the least of which is that Israel has once again made a substantial peace gesture. What might that be? The relinquishment of its hold on Gaza, which one might have thought would please the Arabs. In which case, one would be mistaken. Why? Because he would be acting on the premise that the Arabs want peace, and it must be clear by now, after any number of peaceful gestures on the part of Israel, that that is the last thing that the Arabs want. Indeed, it is the last thing that they seem capable of—with or without Israel. If Israel were gone, then the Arabs could return to the pleasant task of killing each other, as they have so frequently done in the past. Why do they do this? Because they are a backward, bloodthirsty, bunch of barbarian savages who seem incapable of doing anything beside destroying things—like progress. And, were it not for their abundance of oil—and our dependence on it—no one would give them a second thought, let alone take them seriously. Not having the economic resources to fund their quest to return the world to the dark ages, they would be left to wander in the desert as they have done for so long prior to the discovery of oil—a bunch of backward bedouins who, again, no one would take seriously. Unfortunately they have great stores of wealth, coupled with a religion that appears to direct them to destroy all who follow a different path (and when that’s done, to feel free to fall upon one another). The following column by David Horowitz at FrontPageMagazine.com (a great website, by the way—the first one I check in the morning) sums up the current situation as well as it can be summed up. Ergo, permit me to speak to you through Mr. Horowitz, whose permission I have secured for the republication of his column:

MARC, STICK THE ENTIRE HOROWITZ COLUMN IN HERE, IF YOU CAN AND IF YOU WOULD BE SO KIND. THANKS!!!

JIM: HOROWITZ’S PIECE, ENTITLED, MOMENT OF TRUTH, CAN

BE FOUND AT HIS WEBSITE “FrontPageMagazine.com, which, by the way, is an excellent website.

Now who’s the real culprit here? Should the world be upset that, no sooner had Israel left Gaza (contrary to the advice of many), Gaza became just what critics said it would become—a haven for terrorists? And should we be upset that, as a consequence, the Arabs, in the person of Hizbollah (a surrogate of Syria), are launching rockets into heavily populated areas of Northern Israel, specifically Haifa (Israel’s third largest city)? Or should we be upset that Hamas (a surrogate of Iran) has been using the West Bank to do the same thing (even while Israel is in the process of giving thought to relinquishing its presence in that area)? Or should we be upset with those awful Jews who have decided not to put up with that crap any longer and have taken those steps they consider appropriate to their self defense? What would the U.S. do if terrorists were using Mexico to lob rockets into Houston or Dallas? To ask the question is to answer it “we would kick the crap out of Mexico if they refused to shut down such a terrorist operation (just a hypothetical, folks). Why? Because every country has the right to defend itself; indeed, survival transcends all concerns, and Israel’s very survival has always been the central issue in the Middle East dispute (if you have any doubt about that, you have not been listening to the recent pronouncements of that nut job who is currently the President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who has, on several occasions, advocated the extermination of Israel; if he, and he is the leader of a Muslim country, is an indication of Islam’s being a religion of peace, then I have to tell you, I’m confused).

Of course, the real culprit here is the United Nations; it has become a haven for anti-Semites (not to mention a feckless, corrupt, anti-American swamp that we should either drain or abandon). Why give them a home, over 20% of their budget, and other perqs, just to either oppose us, as they frequently do, or have them express their gratitude in the form of some anti-American slur?

With regard to the current situation in the Middle East, Israel should do even more than it is doing- everything it possibly can - to wipe out Hamas and Hizbollah, 2 despicable terrorist groups who would destroy Israel without a second thought if they were capable of doing so. By now it should be apparent to even the most simple and/or naïve among us that you cannot negotiate with terrorists. The only thing to do with them is to kill them—as many of them as you can. It is time that we stopped trying to fight a politically correct war. Just pull the plugs, apply overwhelming force, and wipe them out. After all, Israel is going to be blamed no matter what, and, as the saying goes, if you’re in for a dime, you’re in for a dollar. And then we can have another Zogby column informing us how those poor, peace-loving Arabs have been victimized (by the way, did you know that Mr. Zogby is the head of the Arab American Institute, described by the website Militant Islam Monitor. Org as a “propagandist for the Saudi-Wahabi lobby” ; this might explain his less than objective view of matters pertaining to the Middle East).

What to do? Get out of the U.N.! It has accomplished next to nothing, and has abdicated its duty in the face of every serious problem facing the world (e.g. Rwanda, the Sudan, Bosnia, etc., etc.). It is no more effective than its predecessor, the League of Nations (a failed project of Woodrow Wilson’s), and is consistent and outspoken only in its criticism of America. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you. I shall deal with the U.N at great length later—in the interim, I welcome comments from those who support the U.N., such as my friend and critic, the “useful idiot” professor, who I believe wanted an “impartial” view of the U.N. What might that be; I’m dying to see a defense of the U.N.
