In the last 2 columns I reprised my reaction to liberalism at the time of Bush’s election. Since that time, my reaction has changed only in that I have had 6 more years to see not only just how bankrupt the left is, but how vicious they have become in pursuing their bankrupt (non)agenda. And when I use the term bankrupt, I am not just borrowing from the title of David Limbaugh’s excellent effort under the same name; I had arrived at the exact same conclusion long before Mr. Limbaugh’s book hit the shelves. The Democrat Party has simply gone bonkers, caring nothing about national security and only about the reckless and dangerous pursuit of power. Toward what end you may ask? Toward no discernible end other than power for power’s sake, for they are indeed bankrupt in every sense of the word—morally, intellectually, and philosophically. They have no agenda that is in any way compatible with either America’s history or America’s best interests—again, it is simply about power for power’s sake.
